Generator-vs- Altenator

[66-Ghia]

 S@Sm The 71 bus has a 12V generator on it now. I read on Samba many different opinions about changing it to an altenator. (as Steveo says,"Samba is your best friend") But after reading all of their opinions, I,m more confused then I was before.
I hope when the motor is done (or before) to know the answer, whether to change over to an altenator or not.
Any ideas?

Car's used point dizzy's and generators for 50 years with no problems & they are easy to fix & maintain. IMHO I just don't see the need for electronics & alternators on our older cars. Heck thats one of the reasons we own them isn't it? because they can be fixed modified & repaired by ourselves 2CENTS

John:   the 66 Ghia has an altenator ( came with the engine install)

Now for the BIG question-- will a good working generator be able to handle a dual battery isolator, so I can charge two battery's at the same time  ???
The answers I got from Samba, were- to say the least more confusing   f+t

I'm not big on electric but I don't see why it couldn't. Why do you want to switch back? Remmember when you switch you'll need to get another regulator
