Hey Vinnie

A 62 rag top is a desirable car. What kind of shape is it in? IOW- what else has to be done to it? Building a motor is'nt too difficult. How mechanical are you? Also what kind of motor? stock or screamer? Speed costs money.
Where do you live? Being a first time poster and not a member of the club (yet?), your not going find anyone to volunteer their time. Most of us have other projects (I have two).
So I guess what we're trying to figure out here is- how serious are you about the car? Or are you just looking for a quick sale?

Vinnie,

thats your first problem, you've never heard of this club. I'd suggest a couple of things.
First come out to one of our meetings and meet some other VW freaks. Second theres a very big VW show coming up at Atco raceway in just a couple of weeks BE THERE! Now if you can get out to the show you are going to see TONS of VWs some just drivers but some restored and some way out custom. Talk with the owners ( VW people are notorious for being friendly! ) and see if you like what you see! OK assuming that "the bug bit you" make one of our meetings and don't be afraid to ask questions. Hopefully you will decide to keep the car and make a plan on how to get it back on the streets. John is very right, a 62 rag top is a VERY desirable car. Depending on your skill level and budget it might not take much to get it back on the road. Our club is made up of all kinds of VW nuts, some with tons of mechanical skill and some who can just about get by ( I'm not mentioning any names! ) but they all have one thing in common and thats they really enjoy their cars! Hope to find you in that bunch!!

PS: PLEASE TURN  OFF THE CAPS! looks like you are yelling!

Na!
If you can wrench on a Dodge a bug should be no problem.

If you are serious about selling it then post it under the "for sale" heading, somebody might be looking for that type of project.

Go to this link and click on VW ENGINE REBUILD it may help you. This link may help also.  Bob's engine rebuild.

Do you have a garage or someplace inside to work on the engine?

Think about joining the club and I'll show you how to tare down and  build your engine. As we all have projects in the fire, and time is precious, club members get more help then non members, but we will still give you help on here as much as we can if you don't join.
I don't have to go to work in the morning....
