Just picked up bettle number 11! It's been 22 long years since number 10 went away. Anyway... Its a baja Bug and it had QQ tags. I want to drive this thing not just admire it. I would like to register it normally. Anybody know what will/will not pass NJ inspection on a Baja?

is that the one that was for sale at punch buggy?  I have a pic of that in my phone--it's gorgeous!

Can't help with tag info. But cool Baja. And I like your desire to drive rather than admire. That bug looks like it was made to be driven.
I don't know how fast my car will go.
It's more important that I know how fast my car will stop.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes it is the one from Punch Buggy. I built the exact same car in 1988. When I saw this one I grabbed it. It's got all the right stuff, just executed a little sloppy but I'll take care of that... 1835, Sandmaster trans, 3.5" body lift, Super Swamper tires and one or 2 of everything in the Bugpack Catalog! I just need to find out what's legal.

When Mark or Marc get on one of them should be able to give you info you need, I think they both have reg. tags on their Bajas. I rememger seeing it also at the show. Where do you live?

If you mean my Beloved Rat, I have QQ's. For what it's worth I take it out at least weekly & drive from Sweet Water to Egg Harbor City, then to Hammonton & stop at the news stand for smokes & the liquer store for a six pack. Allways seen by at least one Peace Officer. No reaction except once when one pulled up next to me at the light. All he had to say was that he liked it. Was running no front tag or rear deck led which are both violations. My uncle is retired from the Maple Shade Police Dept. They are not out to hassle QQ vehicles unless you do something dumb. What they are looking though and will bust you for is if they suspect that your using your QQ car as your daily driver. They don't like that even one little bit & will come down hard on you if you are.

I intend to drive this car back and forth to work in Philly. I bought it from a cop, but he hardly ever drove it. QQ tags wont do.

High all!I am new to the board. I stopped into DQ with my 62 last season but with a set of twins didn't have the time to join. I saw the pics of bahaha's baja and realized it was the one of the cars that was at atco. When i saw this car at the show i realized that it was MY CAR back in the 90's!! and the guy i sold it to was an old friend that i haden't seen in years. I'll have to get you some pics of what it was like back in the day. BAHAHA do you have still have any of the contact info for the guy you bought it from? Sean? Just shows the VW world can be small!!

Yeah I have his info. He grew up here in Atco with the sons of a very good friend of mine that lived right behind his parents house.  Love to see photos and definately want to know more history. email me at  moc.dloffacsroirepus@nwahs (reverse it).

He's a really nice guy. I freaked him out when I showed him pics of my Baja from 20 years ago.

He said "You're the only other person that knows exactly what whent on in my head when I built it...My wife sure didnt!" LoL
