Let's say for instance I did want to mess with the choke, the only thing I touch is the cylinder on the right hand side of the carb thats held one with three screws. Right? Just make sure that the fast idel came is resting at the top of the thing with the notches in it and make sure that the choke allows some air in it shouldn't be fully closed. I promise I won't touch it unless Mr. Jack gives me the ok. ;D

Greg,

Do you have to stomp on the gas pedal that many times?, I just push it down 1-2 times and it starts right up.

Think there is some slight flooding going on there, or washing the cylinders with some gas?

I sit in the car for about for about 20 sec.s for a nice low rpm run to be stable then scurry back into my house

How's your bug heat? If you ever go to bilge blowers for heat assist, I recommend it! It really does help!

Remember it takes real men to drive VW's every day regardless of the temp or conditions! - so ferget those pj's!

I think it's a choke problem, when it's warmer it's one or two pumps otherwise it's 4 pumps when I drove it the day before. I haven't been driving the bug because work has me all worn out and my drive to the new location is stressful for me and the bug. The pj's are mine, I've always liked the grinch more than santa it's just one of those things that I'll never to get to old for. For the heat, the heat is ok the main problem is the air that comes throught uncovered speaker grill. I honestly don't know why I took it out in the first place...oh yeah to put my custom horn button there. =-) I don't wanna work on the blowers yet b/c it seems like something I'll get stressed out about and hate myself. :wallbash:

For all you guys who hate fuel injection and like to rip it out...my 76 always started on the first crank no matter how cold...no stomping on the gas pedal or chokes to mess with :icon_wink:
