I know you've always wanted the challenge of building a 36hp. If this isn't inspiration, I don't know what is

John,

that is tempting but sorry I just don't have it now. that set would buy about 10 sets of 044s. If it were 1957 that would be a hot setup. The seller is somebody I recognize 'Mr okrasa" is a guy named Joe Ruiz. A couple of years ago I sold him a set of Solex okrasa carbs on e-bay. I had no idea what they were and he bid my auction until he won them. We exchanged a couple of e-mails and he seemed like a really nice guy. Only later did I find out hes one of the few experts on these engine conversions.

Anyway to answer your question Yes! I'd love to build a 36hp. It would be fun to see just how much you could get out of one of these puppies with just simple balancing and some head porting. Hey if you have the extra cash pick em up and we'll give it a try!   :icon_thumright:

I always wondered where in the world do people find stuff like that?

Old vw shops that have converted to specialize in other cars and yet have retained a faintly remembered small stock of vw parts??!!  Just amazing!

I'd bet theres some good sources overseas. The VW was sold in every country and I'd think somebody out there would be glad to get rid of all those obsolete parts and "junk". Just wish I could find that guy!

Just read any of the "Treasure Hunting in..." articles in Hot VW's. They find warehouses full of the stuff
The VWs you can sleep in are more gooder

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, The kind that can count and the kind that can't.

That's how BFY Obsolete Parts came into being...............

just thought all those warehouses were gone............but who knows.........

guess Okrasa parts aren't falling out of trees! If you want the "real deal" you gotta pay bigtime! Makes sense if somebody is doing a "by the numbers" resto or has a rare car like a Danhauser & Strauss or one of the coach built vws. Figure a resto on something like that is going to be big bucks anyway so whats another $9000 or so.
