My 1932 Ford
When I was 16 my father gave me $400.00 to buy the car. By the time I got it on the road for the first time I was married and had a 1 year old son.I picked up a 327 Chevy engine, mated it to a 4 speed, changed to a 8 in. Ford rear end. I drove it to Florida one year, and New Hampshire another year. I thought I would never sell it, but money, lack of skilles and a couple of other reasons said it had to go. I sold it 4 years ago. What hurts is I held onto it for 45 years. At leased once a DAY I think about it.

P.S.
There are times I feel like I bought it when it was new.

This was the first car I ever bought with my own money.  Look how happy my dad was in the picture.  This picture was taken 20 years ago this summer.
I still have this car.  It sits on my property.  It has become kind of a junker.  Still has the auto stick trans in it but not much else.  When the front beam rusted off the car, I took its rebuilt motor and used it as the first of many motors in my 1972 Blue convertible that I still drive today.   When I bought the yellow standard bug the non running convertible was part of the deal.  All for $550  Thats me in the green shirt. One of the few people in this picture with hair.

Nice Pic Martin, would never had guessed it was you. Neat that your first purchased car was a vw - ever not have one?

I have always had a VW of some kind.  A had a bus for a while 4 diffeent beetles.  It has been a few years since one has been my daily driver.  I keep my 72 vert and 63 rag for nice weather and shows mostly.  I have a rust free 67 beetle that was going to be my new daily car...haven't had a chance to finish it.  I use the Honda or the really big old Cadillac for daily use right now.

No pictures, didn't have camaras back then, but my first car was a 49 flathead Ford cope that I got in 1956. I use to use the 25 cents lunch money I got each day for gas and my friends use to chip in. It was much more cool to drive around school then eat lunch.
