Yeah, I know it is almost impossible to make a perfect call. But you guys never make mistakes... You're my HEROS!!!!
But if anyone would chime in with a best case and worst case for the transmission problem it would be very helpful.
Thanks

Problem ?? What problem??

A rust free Ghia with a sticky trans and only $1850.00
In NJ thats not a problem its a gift!!

The photos don't look too bad but looks like it could use some interior work, not a big deal.
I'd grab it the tranny can't be too bad. Best case it could be a shifter adjustment or shot shift coupler, worst case a new tranny.
hey you could buy it and send it here..  :icon_cheesygrin:

More likely then not it has a bad 4th gear clutch gear (slider) and would have to be rebuilt. Ghias are known for a lot of hidden rust and I would have to check it out in person before buying.

If you never drove one you should try getting in and out of one first to see if like it or I should say fall into it and roll out of it.

Best case, only needs a trans and a good used one is cheep enough, same as a bug.

Worst Case, lots of hidden rust held together by the paint and you hate driving it.
I don't have to go to work in the morning....

OK so lets say there's no hidden rust (It's a Cali car) and you have no problem getting in and out of it...

Worst case scenario... $1200 for a kick-a** freeway flyer transmission or as 3Gear stated $300-500 for a rebuild

As a Ghia owner, everything is NOT the same as a bug, as Jack said you will have to learn how to "roll in and out of it"   And rust  @7@
