Thx Bob!

Might be interesting to squeeze up there and pry out... I need arms the size of Tylers... :) I don't really want to pull the engine in 20 degree weather to make it easier to get out..

Only concern is if this "half" bushing falls into the tranny,  correct?

Some people drive it in and let the flywheel SMASH IT UP but I wouldn't do that.

You need a Sacrificial Philips screwdriver about a foot long, grind off the point tip then grind a flat in it (the flat has to be a least as wide as the bushing) so you have a little hook on the end, slide a deep well socket  over it to use it like a slide hammer to pull the bushing out. It does work.

&$hmmthin_+ OH, You should call George, he should have a starter bushing puller you could usee

Rich,
I have a slide hammer puller with a small hook you can attach to the end. Just a thought?

Since I "volunteered" to watch my granddaughter for two days, the only thing I can do is clean up my workbench. I have the cleanest garage around. Got together my broken tools and put them in a pile to go back to Sears. Love that place. Got new stuff for replacing 30 year old tools from my Pops.

Happy holidays!

Went off to AutoZone and switched my starter to one for an automatic versus a manual per George's recommendation.

Here it is: Notice the stubby end...no bushing

Came home, threw two loads of laundry in the Kenmore for heat, and installed. Charged the battery, and.........................

YES!!! Idling OK... Started again, and let it idle. Cool beans... BlueBelle lives. Went  to get my video camera on this historic day, and came back to this on the floor:

Kenmore laundry is done, I'm out of Bounty towels, and I'm ready to fire up my SawZall on this bus because I'm pissed.

Oh well, Wednesday is another day.
