Did that ONCE in my life...went through about 5 quarts of oil twice on a Chevy Nova... Its why I always check with my finger to feel the metal mating surface to make sure...

If I did it again, than I'm more worried about dementia in my head than my engine :)

I always double check. If you put the two filters together, the old gasket should lube the new one. Be careful of dirt! If the old one doesn't lube the new one it's probably because it is stuck on the engine! Good luck! By the way Rich, your not a kid anymore. Senior moments creep up on some of us! Like, does any one know why I went down cellar?

Well, Jack came over today...

With a 3 foot cheater bar and a claw oil filter wrench, we got the old one off, put the new one on....

Gave it a start, and oil peed out ....bad oil cooler.

Jack says to do this all right, the best bet is to pull the engine, and bring it over to the Busted Knuckle garage... probably replace push rod seals, oil cooler, exhaust maybe.. we will see...

waiting for a little warmer weather, in a few weeks, for the pull...

Thanks Glenn for coming by this afternoon with a donation of a an oil filter wrench :)

Didn't really do much... Finished my Pergo floor though...

I'll see when its a good time is to pull the engine and get it over to Jacks..

Just keep thinking about how you are getting that gravel in through that door... :)

All my customers are construction companies and they love me....

My favorite one will loan me a Dig-it.
