Karmann???

What makes a convertibe a karmann? Can a super be a karmann. Mine did not have a badge on it when I got it. But the car has been messed with so much over the years I'm sure they could have removed the badge and closed up the holes on the side. It's a 71 super convertible.

I thought the body was made by Karmann. Like GM's "Body by Fisher". But I don't know when they stopped making them. 2@cent
