Richard

Only three of us showed up for Dub N Dine Thursday evening at A&H African and Jamaican Restaurant.
That's a real shame. You all missed a great meal!

The place is without a doubt a Dive. If you want ambiance, this isn't your place. If you want really good food, dig in.

They apparently had no idea we were coming nor had they heard of SJVWC. At first they thought we were car dealers.

Once we were settled in the staff couldn't do enough for us and seemed thrilled to have us as guests.

On the down side, they were out of a few of the dishes we were interested in.
On the up side, the food we did have was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced.
My dish, curry shrimp in a tomato puree sauce with green peppers and onions came with cabbage, plantains, and yellow rice. It had eight very nicely sized shrimp perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Rodger and his friend (who's name escapes me at the moment) also really liked their dishes.

I'll be stopping in there again for takeout when I'm in the area.

Sorry to hear of light turnout at another club event. Being a meat and potatoes type  I don't go because I think I won't like the food of most of the places that are on the list. I will be trying the April DnD.
I don't have to go to work in the morning....

Sorry I missed it too, I was really looking forward to it, but of course I got tied up at work.

Actually having to work is a pin in the butt!!!

Thanks for the report Rich. I'm sorry I missed. Matt and I will have to go there some other time. Though if they are authentic Jamacians, they don't care for our kind... If you catch my drift.

Jack, Dub N Dine is just what people like you need. It's a chance to take a chance and expand your culinary horizons. Worst case is you stop off at Mickey D's and grab a burger and fries on the drive home!!!!     *buG

I've personally seen JackWagen expand his culinary horizons by once putting pepper on his chipped beef at a BWTB and putting BOTH chocolate and rainbow sprinkles on a vanilla cone on an ice cream cruise.   mo-on

Richard, I went to the Irish DND and ordered a dish I knew I liked but they infused it with SO MUCH of a reduction of
Ginnis beer I could hardly eat it it was so strong and that's the kind of surprise I hate. That's a stop it MD's on the way home kind of meal. -vomit\

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you did order "GUINNESS Beef Stew". Didn't you?   ROFL)

Good memory Richard, it might have been because I love Beef Stew, I was thinking it would have an underlying flavor of GINNIS but not such a over powering taste of it. Maybe if I was a beer drinker like SteveO it would have tasted better but I don't think so it was wicked strong you couldn't taste anything but the beer.
