My New Heater
« on: November 23, 2008, 06:09:10 pm »

Hey guys I know that some of you run Heat, and some of us don't because we'll wosses and didn't build or intend to drive our Dub in chilly weather. But since winter normally dosn't set in till after the Holidays and on those nice sunny days we decide to drive. But this year Mother Nature decided to be cold and cranky "hm-mm sounds like my ex" and now wish we had heat?

This is an attempt to add a little quicky warmth to my chilly ride.

Note in this pic it shows the Temp before turning the heater on.

This is the heat that I received after 10 or so minutes of the heater running.

 My Hook Up..

This heater has several cool functions. Like the swing out handle so that you can direct it to your windows, plus a long cord in the event you want to defrost the front of your windsheild.

 Functions are.
 Heater
 Fan Only Mode
 Light only Mode
 Swingout Handle

Price when on Sale $9.99 at Harbor Freight.  $61$

Note.. No Bugs, or killowhoops were harmed or hurt in this heating attempt. Also the heat obtained was done so while the car was idiling and not driven. I'm not sure yet how well it works while driving, but hey if it only raises the cars interior by 10 or 20 degrees that's all I need!

Cool Jay, that and the heated seat pad from Target should do the trick!

  I like that jay!

I have one of those hanging on my garage wall. Never opened it. I bought it when I had a Ford van that ran bad and would stall when it was cold and wet. I thought it might help if I directed it at the carburetor, but I sold it before I had a chance to try it.

(don't bother telling me how to fix it, Two Ford dealers and my ace mechanic all failed to resolve the problem.)

I think it draws 12amps. I'm running an alternator. Also keep in mind that if you look at the pic the heater was near the therm so I'm sure that the actual increase of total heat would be far less.
