I?m raising money for a new toy so I need to free up some dead money fast. I?m selling my 1641 engine that was in Old-Blue. Yes this is the engine that caught fire. No, only the wires and some fuel lines had to be replaced. The engine ran after that but not very good, Bob Mondello traced to the single Dellorto having the booster upside down- I didn?t do it.
Anyway here are the particulars. The compression was very good and even from cylinder to cylinder when I checked it last (before the fire) . It didn?t smoke, burn oil or make noises. It has a low-end Crane Fireball cam. It has all the sheet metal, a 12-volt generator. 205 distributor, (if you don?t like that distributor I may have a nice 009 full centrifugal unit that I will throw in.)
It is running now a set of single port, ported heads. They are great heads-
BUT here is the deal:
The engine comes with a set of never run, bead blasted, newly rebuilt dual port heads. With new guides, exhaust valves and an angle valve job by Jack. I hand lapped the valves myself and they may have a mild port job, and port matching. These are genuine German heads #311.101.3766.
No carburetor, or heat exchangers, I may be able to supply the intake manifold and a flywheel of your choice.
The price is $450 almost the price of just a good set of good heads.
If I bolt on the heads and put them on e-bay I would ask $800 as a starting price. (I sold a 1600 cc long block for over $900 + some three years ago.)
Of course the engine is guaranteed to run and run well or you get your money back. Add the carburetor(s) of choice, one afternoon with a couple of friends, and you can be running a nice strong engine. drive&&
