Sooo for some reason I decided to go with a slightly larger muffler than the tail pipe.

Tail pipe is 2 inches ID muffler is 2.25 Inches ID.

Now, Summit, Napa, and other companies sell "reducers" which allows you to connect two pipes of different sizes.

The problem is, I don't think the pipes ment to fit inside of the reducer, so you are suppose to weld around it, or put some type of clamp on it like you do for the heater box to muffler/header S@Sm

If the ID of the pipe is 2 inches and the ID of the Reducer is 2 inches... then the pipe wont fit inside? Correct? Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.

I'm confused.

If I don't have an answer buy the am I'll just take the pipe and the muffler to the exhaust guy in town. Last time I talked to him he said 15. Hopefully that quote is still good.

Jack the header I bought has the large flange at the 12:00 position. Then I bought a pipe bed for a baja and cut the bend off of it so it goes to the right of the car and doesn't return to the left. The problem now is putting the muffler onto the pipe because they are two different sizes.

Yeah, I know that. The problem is which one. Because it seems that the reducer for a 2 inch ID pipe should be sightly larger than the pipe not the same size, which is where I'm stumped.

measure the two inside diameters and take the info to the store. They should be able to help you

Boy... gotta love empi.  m-d At least this chit is on and doesn't leak... just waiting for the muffler.

Like I remember, there was actually a bolt on the side underneath the top nut. I managed not to break any head bolts.  BO**


Unlike last time I replaced all the exhaust nuts plus the one bolt, and this time put washers on.

My set up waiting for the muffler... I think I may have to cut the pipe, If I'm lucky It will exit right out the side and I won't have to bend the pipe.


Started it up to check for leaks... sounds like a tractor. It's even too loud for ME!!!

Yes I know the bolts on the flange are loose... waiting for fedex.

I'm trying to figure out now how to run the heater hose down through the tin and attach it to the heater box.

Today's highlight of the day was dropping TWO preheater hose nuts into the heater box...  m-d After the 2nd time, I covered it up.  f+t

I learned today, that the socket size is the size of the head of the bolt... for some dumb reason I always thought it was the tread size.  f+t

 @7@ Why didn't you buy the headder and muffler as a kit so it would fit right?

Cause I couldnt find a kit that I liked the way it sounded. YThe magnaflow muffler was excatly the sound I wanted. I did my research on youtube.

 Beat. I have been through this also, and searched for many different sounds, etc of mufflers. On Saturday I will have some pipes bent, and be welding on my new muffler. Mostly to shut  .## up, but also because I've been on the search for several years. I've looked into the magnaflows but they are a little complicated due to the header system. My engine is a little different then yours, but at lease you can get a sample idea when it's done, so hang in there just a little bit longer, and if I don't like mine it's coming off for something different.  s#r

i am going tomorrow to get the right size reducer, it actually worked out nicely. theJust worrworr now about getting carbon all over my beautiful fender.Im going to see if dad can weld it, if not Im going to take it into town.

Put my exhaust on today... it's way to effin' loud for daily driver use... I should take it to a turner show, or a show with loudest exhaust. I think I might have Ed Mcgrath beat.

I guess that's what I get for taking a risk.  :'(

Just ordered a quiet pack...anything is better than the cop caller that I have on there now.  ::) Seriously before I remove it, I'm going to make another 55 MPH drive by video.
