something for Jack
« on: June 15, 2009, 05:36:22 pm »

Saw this on the samba- one of the coolest accessesories I've seen since the little 45 record players

Not strictly a type 3 accessory, but a rare one that would go with any 6 Volt VW. An NOS German Paluxette dash mounted coffee maker which was originally purchased in 1954. The literature is very cool, with one page even individually typewritten (bet that secretary would have killed for a xerox machine). The original check is included ($21.88... Bank in those days), as is a spare cup and filter in original shipping materials.
The unit has a mounting plate that attaches with 3 screws, and the coffee maker hangs on that, and plugs in to the lighter socket. The water goes in the top after removing the finned black cap. The stuff in the cup is a stack of 100 filter papers. In addition to VW's we collect coffee makers, and also own the Paluxette home version which has a similar tank design.. for a gallery of pics, go to:

I'm glad you posted that John. For some reason I never thought of looking for a 12v coffee maker on line so I did and I just ordered one for camping. $21.24.

They have lots of 12v stuff from 12v electric blankets to TV's. LINK Now I need a deep cycle battery.

Hate to bitter your coffee, but these 12v coffee makers take forever to brew especially if there's more then a cup and are a real power drain. You might be much better off just using a home style electric coffee brewer and a DC-AC Power Inverter. Plus your have the added advantage of 120v for other low wattage usage.  Can You say Harbor Break?  s#r
