In case you were wondering about the title of this thread...
I am looking to buy a bunch of stuff for the Meanie. I'm talking a skid (or two), and I figured if I'm going to see a hefty freight bill, I'll let the club know what I'm doing in case anybody wanted to jump in. Once you pay for the basic rate for the skid, the rate doesn't increase tremendously if you add some weight.
I read on Chirco's site that Lemorris was now an employee, and that Chirco's was setting up some kind of club deal thing so I sent him an email.
The next day one of the secretaries buzzes me and says "There's a "Lee Morris Harris" on the phone... Do you want me to dump him to voice mail?" To which I replied "No, you only have to do that for "Bugaru"".
Anyway Lemorris called to chat about the new ideas for the site. Bob Chirco has an amazing take on what a customer relationship should be. Lemorris' new job is to bring the "warm & fuzzy" of standing face-to-face at the counter to the rest of us who cant go there in person. There's nothing like that "Hey! How ya doin?" you get when you go to the VW Speed Shop.... (Back when we had one)
The another of his ideas are to bring the VW Club's leadership together. A forum for the Officers & Board members of the clubs to exchange ideas & information regarding all things VW club... i.e. Hosting shows, swapmeets, insurance, programs etc. Our board has to contact lemorris-at-chirco-dot-com to get us registered. He was very excited about Punnch Buggy 2010. (Ask him about the box of give-aways available to registered club who host shows)
It's really exciting. Lemorris has a ton of infectious optimism about what this can become. I wish him the best of luck with his new job (job seems too harsh a word for it)
Anyway, as soon as (Chirco's) Frank sends me the prices for the stuff I need, I'll start a thread to see if anybody wants to order. This is your chance to get that roll cage or Fiberglass or like me Seats and not get absolutely killed on freight. BTW, as soon as we're set up, we're all good for 10% off the top!
Many Thanks to Bob Chirco & Lemorris for the (love
