Out of State Title Transfers
« on: February 06, 2010, 08:27:32 am »

How do out of state title transfers work? The bus I may be purchasing is in Philadelphia but I live in NJ. Do you go to the DMV in PA or NJ to do the transfering?

you should be able to do it all in NJ. Be sure to have all your documentation- bill of sale, title, I even like to have the previous owners registartion info with me. I find with DMV, the more paper work you have, the better the results

Thanks 6T5 Square. This bus was just taken off the road last month, so I'm sure the p/o has all that info. She will be coming with me to the DMV. The P/O mentioned doing the title change at AAA, have you ever heard anything about that.

I used to work for AAA in Philly (& my mom worked there for 23 years). They do tags & transfers in PA, not NJ. In PA wasn't uncommon to transfer title OUT of PO's name (Witnessed signing) to release them from any future liability. The new owner then takes it to their state and registers it. But I don't know if that's still done

My rig came from Florida. Just took the Florida title & nothing else to NJ DMV. No problems took 10 minutes to print NJ title & send me on my merry way

Wow Mildred you sound like you are busy. 2 aircooled VW's a kid and lost arts. How do you manage?
And with AAA it is the member not the car. So if you were in someone else's car. They don't mind

Knitting it cool. My mom taught me how to do it, think I may still remember how.

Had a prob that I kept "misplacing" the long knitting needles...

Seems like the people who made fun of me doing it "had" them..
took quite a bit of surgery to remove ... :icon_twisted:
