Don't know yet, I have not taken the top of the carb off...  I do know that the fuel pump is working, and gas is getting past the pump. But as for what  is going on in the carb I do not know that is where the system breaks down... I do know I did not miss any parts, I was rather anal about that since it was my first one...

yes, but check the fuel pump first. Like Matt said, if theres no fuel no fire! Assuming you are getting gas from the pump then I'd check the float & needle valve, Pull the top of the carb and see whats in the fuel bowl. Also if theres fuel and the accelerator pump isn't working I'd check the brass nozzle to see if its clear and also the diaphram and spring under the diaphram.

  There is also a small hole in the bottom of the bowl, which feeds into the accel pump. if this is clogged, that needs to be cleaning out.

Also there is a one way ball check valve thing going to and away from the accel pump. Sometimes these balls get stuck.

I think I mentioned that in the carb tutorial

I will be finishing up that tutorial soon as putting back my floor pan and car insides is almost done
Sprayed the seam sealer tonight with paint, and sealed the inside part of the pan to the body...
still a bit more to do...........

again, as we already beat you up about it,  f+t  check that there is fuel in the bowl... that will tell you the condition of your needle valve.  For the float, just see if it can flop up and down readily ( do this when the bowl is empty) make sure your float DOES NOT have any fuel in it.

What kind of seam sealer are you using ? I've got a mess with the Corvair. The seam sealer was so old & brittle I managed to remove it with a vacuum cleaner! When I splice in the new floors I'm going to have to replace all of it.

Yeah, I know, but I think Jack already pasted me with that name -


I used what Jack recommended and what was recomended by others, it is called seam sealer by 3M

It is expensive stuff.

Sometimes I wonder if things like that are better than a good caulk. For instance, how about an outside caulk for the house that will not shrink or crack, remain semi-flexible and "gaurenteed" to last 50 years?
  However, I still went with the 3M seam sealer.  Order it online, it is much cheaper.

For the inside of my car, I could not convince myself that an outside all weather housing calk would not do. 100% silicone. Waterproof. Flexible, 25 year warranty ....blah, blah, blah. The inside of my car will not be like the exterior of a house.  
Of course 3M seam sealer tube recomends 3M urethane....probably more   d-s   d-s  - I went with the caulk for the inside of the car for the pan..........

That's my plan.

Also, the pan on the inside of the car, had about 3 coats of rustbullet ( like por15) and about 5 coats of enamel. 
I'm beleiving water wont touch it.

I also sealed the edges up very well............

Well, It's much lighter now, one pan no longer has a 1/2" of tar on it.
Yea it was about that thick....
